Thursday 3rd May 2012 – Ringing at Calblanque

Weather: Sky no cloud, wind NE F0-1; 12 - 19º.  05:15 – 10:15.  With Fran Garcia (ANSE), Ray Marsh, Conrado Requeña

Another early ringing session at Calblanque, getting down to the ringing area at 5-15 a.m., and another cloudless sky.  At least there was hardly any wind.
Bird captures were slow, with 4 Willow Warblers, and our first Garden Warbler and House Sparrow captured there, plus a few Linnets, Blackbird, Blackcap and Sardinian Warblers.   There were actually quite a few newly fledged Linnets flying around and up to 4 Thekla Larks in the carpark where we do the ringing.  Other birds seen/heard were at least 2 Bee-eaters heard calling, a Nightingale singing on the way down to the ringing site, and Spotted Flycatcher and Woodchat seen around the ringing area.
