Belones (ringing)

I went back
to the ringing site (the others had camped overnight, but I went home as I live
nearby). The first net round had been
done, but there were very few birds, and over the whole morning only 10 birds
were caught and ringed. While there we
did have a Sparrowhawk go over, and a group of swifts with at least 4 Alpines
and 3 others (either Common or Pallid, but too distant to be sure). We were
also serenaded by the song of a Thekla Lark overhead.
After the
nets had been put away, I went over to have a look at the Salinas, but apart from the usual Audouin’s
Gull (128 of them), the only other bird I saw was a Green Woodpecker.
